I have labelled this wine Graves/ Sauternes which is actually incorrect – let me explain…. The wine is actually produced in Sauternes but both in the style of a dry Graves but also by one of the great white Graves estates – Domaine de Chevalier which sells for £100+ a bottle. I am not a huge fan of the ubiquitous sauvignon blanc wines that seem to dominate the world stage right now which is why I like this stuff. 70% Semillon and just 30% Sauvignon makes for a much richer, more interesting wine. Talking of bottles it comes in a beautiful bottle that mirrors the 18th century design and has a beautiful label. None of which makes any difference to the wine itself but when you taste it you will see why we have included it in our selection.

Official Tasting Notes:
Picture a dry Sauternes blended with sweet, white peaches and you begin to get the idea of what’s in your glass. Add some ripe, yellow citrus and a dollop of pineapple, with a shot of acidity, and you can complete the picture.
John’s view:
Peaches and lemons with a drizzle of cream. Well obviously it is a wine and not a pudding but if it were a pudding it would be peach and lemon cheesecake! The “experts” say to serve this at 14 degrees which I think is too warm, chill it for 30 minutes before serving and it will zing (or sing!). Staggering value at this price.
