As this says Lalande de Pomerol rather than just Pomerol you are paying €15 a bottle less for a wine that matched, or surpasses, others from its neighbouring, supposedly superior, region. So, if €100 is too much for you to spend on a deep, silky, powerful wine from near to Petrus this fits the bill perfectly as it is a third of that price! Uses a mix of mostly Merlot but lightened with a 30% slug of cabernet franc.

Official Tasting Notes:
Smoky red pit fruits, espresso and earthy notes open the medium-bodied, early drinking, soft textured wine. The finish is soft and inviting with its core of ripe red cherries.
With a kiss of oak, dark, red pit fruit and flowers, this wine is medium bodied, forward and fruity with a dusty finish.
John’s view:
Not sure what ‘pit fruits’ are but when you open a bottle of this there is a lovely earthy smell, like when you get a rain storm after a hot sunny day. Fortunately it does not taste of mud it is more like raspberries with chocolate sauce – a lovely smooth and fruity but as I said in the intro it is silky and deep at the same time.
